Project Description:

As part of the standardized and secured provision of program interfaces of backend systems (API - application programming interface), an API gateway is operated in the customer's local data center as well as in the cloud. The gateway servers as a central component between the frontend (e.g. car related smartphone apps, web services) and the backend systems. This API gateway performs various tasks such as the general provision of the interfaces, authentication or complex XML2JSON transformation of corresponding requests.

The general project scope is about a) the design and development of interfaces/policies for new and existing services, b) the support of the overall gateway and its services (2nd & 3rd level support), and c) the overall architecture and advancement of the gateway.


  • Troubleshoot incidents and problems related to the services provided by the Mobile Service Gateway (MSG); e.g. by conducting log file analysis
  • Prioritize, diagnose and solve incidents/problems
  • Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests
  • Improve overall incident and problem management by contributing to polices, processes and procedures (e.g. creating and using templates, maintaining and using the knowledge base)
  • System/application monitoring
  • Possibly train 1st level support and new team members
  • Potentially develop services with
  • Coordination and report with/to the team and the customer

Searched profile/skills:

  • Application Management Support (AMS)
  • Linux operating system (RHEL)
  • APIs, web technologies, web services
  • Experience/training in Application Management Support (AMS) and working with ticketing tools
  • Experience in conducting logfile analysis
  • Sound working knowledge of Linux operating system (RHEL), incl. Linux command-line interface (CLI)
  • Ideally experience in cloud environments (e.g. AWS) and container environments (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Knowledge of Kibana or similar logging solutions
  • Technical knowledge of web technologies, web services and service oriented architecture (SOA, REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, XSLT)
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting
  • Basic knowledge of SQL
  • Ideally knowledge of Web API testing (e.g. with SoapUI)
  • Ideally knowledge of the API development specifications/frameworks Swagger (OAS) and RAML
  • Ideally knowledge of CA API gateway or similar API Management products
