The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology (Dortmund, Germany) seeks to fill a Cheminformatics scientist position (m/f/d). The position is available starting from 1st January 2020 in the Compound Management and Screening Center (COMAS).

Job description

The Compound Management and Screening Center (COMAS) is the central facility for early drug discovery within the Max Planck Society. COMAS hosts a 200k compound library as well as infrastructure for high-throughput screening. Projects are carried out in collaboration with different Max Planck groups. Your responsibilities include the support of drug discovery projects by the administration of chemical databases and data mining. The position is highly collaborative: you will be able to bring in your own interests within a stimulating academic environment.      

Requirements

Prerequisites for the job include a completed university degree (Ph.D.) in cheminformatics or a comparable qualification. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in the management of chemical databases (SQL, Oracle). You should also be familiar with the analysis of large datasets using Python and its data science stack (Pandas, Dask).

Additional knowledge in Pipeline Pilot and/or cheminformatics toolkits like RDKit would be advantageous.

English language skills are a must, German would be a plus. Candidates should be able to work independently in an interdisciplinary team and communicate well within the team as well with national and international collaboration partners.

Payment

We offer a full-time employment in a modern, international work environment.

The position is limited until the end of 2022. Remuneration is paid in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement of the public service (TVöD Bund), taking account of your qualifications and professional experience. In addition, social benefits correspond to those of the public service.
