Deputy Chief Scientific Officer

As the main innovator your key responsibility is to ensure the competitiveness of the company with effective and realizable biotechnological innovations. You will lead a global team consisting of the departments Development Drug Substance and Analytical Development with around 100 employees and three direct reports. Besides leading and developing your team you will focus on the development strategy from market observation and idea generation to feasibility studies, always having the commercial production in mind. In addition, you collect and evaluate internal as well as external innovative ideas, prepare forward-looking decisions regarding technologies and feasibility, and observe the competitive environment. Furthermore, you participate in the company's strategy concerning products, projects, and innovations. In addition, you represent the development competency of the company internally and externally by consistent networking and acquisition of business opportunities.
The qualities that are required are a successfully completed scientific degree as well as several years of experience in the field of biotechnology or the development of vaccines, immunotherapeutics, or gene therapy. You are an experienced team leader with a strong track record and enthusiasm regarding innovations within the (bio-)pharmaceutical sector. Besides having very good project management competencies you have a strong business and customer orientation as well as an entrepreneurial spirit. A cooperative, yet goal-oriented leadership style, change management competencies, and a high level of commitment complete your profile. This global role requires fluency in English and minimum basic knowledge in German, as well as the willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
