The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, Germany, is an international research institute focused on cell and developmental biology. Currently about 500 employees work at the institute, where half are from abroad with 53 nations represented. We are looking for a Lab Assistant (Technician CTA/BTA/MTA).

Our multidisciplinary group uses bottom-up approaches to synthesise artificial cells with life-like properties (see also www.mpi-cbg.de/research-groups/current-groups/dora-tang/research-focus).

Your qualifications

We are currently looking for a technician trained in biochemistry and molecular biology to join our laboratory. Tasks would include:

  • general lab management and organization (ordering, maintenance and upkeep of S1 genetic safety paperwork and plasmid database)
  • molecular cloning and protein purification
  • generation of cell free expression systems

You would be motivated to undertake small research projects and establishing and testing protocols in addition to general lab management duties. We are an international, multidisciplinary and open laboratory seeking a colleague who is highly organized with excellent communication skills and able to undertake experiments with high precision. Good knowledge of the German and English language are required.  

Our offer

The position is available immediately on a part time basis (20 hrs/week) and the initial contract is for 2 years with the possibility for extension. Compensation follows the applicable German tarif for employees in civil service (TVöD Bund) according to qualification, experience and job description.
