Art der Stelle
Molecular and cellular laboratory technician
Stellenangebot vom 07.12.2017
The Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, a research institute of the Max Planck Society, is situated in Tübingen, a quaint and bustling university town in southwestern Germany. Beginning 1 February 2018, the Swart laboratory will investigate the molecular basis of genome reorganization in ciliates, and is seeking a Molecular and cellular laboratory technician (full-time).
Your main tasks will be ciliate culturing, and the organization and maintenance of a genomics/molecular/cellular laboratory. The laboratory works on non-model organisms, and so you will be adapting and developing new methods to optimize their cultivation and molecular manipulation. You will also be involved in preparing libraries for high-throughput sequencing.
The applicant should be self-motivated, meticulous and interested in working with eukaryotic microbes. The applicant should also be considerate and happy to work together with the other lab members, and have a background in cellular and molecular biology. Considerable experience in cell culturing is desirable. Previous experience working with unicellular eukaryotes and/or anaerobic culturing would be most beneficial. Proficiency in microinjection will be a big plus. Fluency in English is a must, while fluency in German is highly desirable, but not essential.
You will have the opportunity to gain new skills and experience in a genomics/ molecular/cellular biology lab at one of Germany’s leading biological research institutes, with a friendly and supportive work environment. The position is on offer from 1 Feb 2018. Candidates will be offered an initial contract of two years that may then be extended. The salary and benefits are based on the German TVöD regulations (TVöD Bund).
The Max Planck Society is an inclusive, equal opportunity employer. Individuals with disabilities will be given priority, assuming equal qualifications and are thus encouraged to apply.
Closing date: 31 December 2017
