Technical Assistant (m/f/d)
(BTA / CTA / Biologielaborant/in / BSc of Biotechnology)

to support our long read platform.

The candidate will be part of a highly motivated team of researchers in the field of long read DNA sequencing including technologies such as Pacific Biosciences SMRTTM sequencing and Bionano optical mapping. We are looking for a person who is interested in the application, development, and establishment of methods that support whole genome de novo sequencing projects at the highest quality standard. The candidate should have strong knowledge in molecular biology and also general laboratory experience. Some background in DNA sequencing is welcome but not mandatory. We expect a person with excellent organizational and communicative skills. The operating language of the institute is English.

The DRESDEN-concept Genome Center is one of four DFG-funded NGS competence centers in Germany and has a strong focus on de novo whole genome sequencing and single cell sequencing. It is equipped with state of the art short read DNA sequencing (Illumina HiSeq, NextSeq, and MiSEq) and long read DNA sequencing technologies (PacBio SMRT sequencing, 10X Chromium, Bionano).

The successful candidate will be employed at the MPI-CBG and will be a member of the long read platform of the DRESDEN-concept Genome Center and the Sequencing/Genotyping Laboratory of the MPI-CBG.

Salary and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TVöD Bund (salary agreement for public service employees) up to level EG 9a depending on qualifications and experience. The full-time position is available immediately as part for maternity leave replacement.
