The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany invites applications for a Technical Assistant for our in-house Deep Sequencing Facility. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art sample preparation and high-throughput deep sequencing technology (Beckman&Coulter, Biomek i7, Illumina, HiSeq3000) and supports as core laboratory research groups at the institute and external collaborations within a large network of regional and national consortia.
The position is initially available in full-time for two years.
Our Institute investigates the molecular basis of the immune response and other topics of the developmental biology, such as the origin and differentiation of the immune cells as well as the development of vertebrate embryo. Another main focus of the Institute is Epigenetic. This area deals with inheritable traits, which are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence.
Your responsibilities will include high quality sample and library preparation service for various deep sequencing projects according to highest international standards. Furthermore you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of liquid handling and sequencing instruments. You will assist in development of methods and automation of workflows and contribute in management of sequencing projects and the core laboratory. Willingness to support the team and individual research projects in a service setting are presupposed.
- completed education as laboratory technical assistant or molecular biologist with equivalent expertise
- at least two years relevant training and hand-on expertise with standard molecular biology techniques for nucleic acid analysis
- experience with next generation sequencing workflows and technologies
- proven experience with laboratory management and laboratory safety regulations
- experience with liquid handling systems are considered a plus
- Good English skills
