The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden is a leading international research institute of the Max Planck Society (MPG) and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of materials science.

The Department of Topological Quantum Chemistry offers a full time postdoctoral position (m/f/d).

Tasks

  • Discovering new topological materials (insulators, semimetals, superconductors)
  • Carrying out photoemission experiments in synchrotron beamlines
  • Maintenance of the in-house ARPES system
  • Analysis and summarizing experimental results
  • Presentation of experimental discoveries in scientific journals and international conferences
  • Working in collaboration with PhD students and research technicians

Qualifications and skills

  • Completed university degree and PhD in the field of physics and materials science
  • Ability to work in the team and at the interdisciplinary level
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • In-depth knowledge in quantum condensed matter physics, with an emphasis on band topology
  • Hands-on experience in ARPES is mandatory
  • Experience in laser light source is preferred
